You know the deal. You can play the 2-star AR7 map for a B-rank, or you can attempt the 7-star DT map for the SS. Here in osu! Civilization, no one aims for the SS. It’s better to play it safe and farm low AR rather than risk your entire pp for just a slightly better score. Tomorrow, you better not be late, or you’ll be playing DT + HR as punishment. "Yes, Sir, sorry, I won’t be late next time." Down here, us Low-Ranks only get one play per day. One low-acc FC is just enough to keep grinding. But that’s the life of osu! Civilization. If you want to reach the top, you have to grind maps. Every Low-Rank has the same goal—to make it to the Top Player Leaderboards, where all the #1 Global Players live. Except most Top Players were born with tablet and fullscreen mode. If you’re a Low-Rank, there’s only one way up, and that is through the Temple of Rhythm. The Temple of Rhythm is the only structure in the world that connects the Low-Ranks to the Top Players. To make it up, you have to clear an impossibly hard tech map that no Low-Rank has ever passed—and that’s assuming you even get a chance to play it. The inside of the Temple is protected by a 1-minute unskippable intro, and the only way a Low-Rank gets past it is if they’ve earned a Top 50 Score. I’ve never even tried to get a leaderboard score before, but if I’m going to rank up to 5-digit one day, I’m going to have to. In my neighborhood, pretty much everyone has ragequit and deleted their account, except for the guy who lives right next to me. He’s been my osu! buddy for five years! Civilization, only Top Players are allowed to upload beatmaps or submit scores instantly. For Low-Ranks, it’s strictly restricted—and unfortunately, I found that out the hard way. A while ago, I was scrolling through the map list, and I somehow stumbled upon a hidden Loved map. No one has seen a Loved map in years since pp farming took over, so I had to try to submit a score. 🚨 "STOP RIGHT NOW!" 🚨 Oh no… I’m done for. "You really thought you could play that without me noticing? What, were you going to try to farm pp?" "No, Sir, I wasn’t farming, I just thought it looked fun and wanted to try it." "Stop talking. Give me two retries now." "Two retries in a row?! Okay, sorry Sir, I’ll do it right now." "You know what? You seem a little too happy about two; let’s make it three." "O-okay, I’ll retry three times." "You know what? Now let’s make it four retries in a row." "Ah, four in a row?? Come on..." misses first note and fails immediately In osu! Civilization, it should be no surprise that all punishments were just more painful retries, and that was the last time I ever tried playing for fun. "You’re lucky you got a light punishment.
