Hi, I’m Laurel, and I’m excited to welcome you to my corner of the internet dedicated to cocktails. For over 15 years, I worked as a bartender in Houston, Texas, where I had the chance to shake, stir, and serve just about every type of drink you can imagine. From the busiest Friday nights behind the bar to the quieter afternoons prepping syrups and garnishes, my time in the industry gave me a deep knowledge of what makes a good cocktail work. Over those years, I poured classics that never go out of style—martinis, mojitos, margaritas—as well as countless variations that regulars would request again and again. Bartending in Houston meant working with a diverse crowd, each with different tastes, and that pushed me to keep experimenting. It wasn’t unusual for me to try a new twist on a familiar drink, or to develop something entirely from scratch, just to see the look on a guest’s face when it hit the right balance. Those moments taught me that cocktails aren’t just recipes, they’re a craft worthy of sharing. This blog is my way of bringing that experience out from behind the bar and onto your screen. Here you’ll find a wide collection of cocktail recipes, ranging from simple two-ingredient builds to more elaborate mixes that use house-made syrups, infused spirits, or layered flavors. I’ll be sharing both the well-known favorites and the unique creations I’ve developed over the years. Some are drinks I built for regular customers who kept coming back for them, while others are experiments that turned out so well I made them part of my own rotation. Whether you’re new to mixing drinks at home or already comfortable with a shaker and strainer, my goal is to give you recipes that work. Each one will include clear steps, straightforward ingredient lists, and tips I picked up during my years behind the bar. You don’t need a full commercial setup to make a great drink—you just need the right knowledge and a willingness to try something new. Beyond recipes, I’ll also be writing about bar basics, like how to set up a home bar, what tools are actually worth buying, and how to substitute when you don’t have a specific ingredient on hand. Over the years, I learned that flexibility and practicality are just as important as precision, and I’ll be passing along that mindset to help you make the most of what you’ve got.
