I have obtained four books on C# which I have been studying. I have installed the .NET Framework on my computer which uses XP Professional. I am using this from the command line. This approach forces a much more thorough understanding of the Framework and conserves cost of learning. It also provides familiarity with the many C# tools. I am also quite interested in the Interoperability of COM and C# which is supported and valuable for reuse of existing legacy code. I have been studying The .NET and COM Interoperability Handbook by Alan Gordon. I have used the concepts from that book to translate some of my previous Delphi code for OCXs to C#. I have written code based on the shdocvw.dll (an OCX) which permits using Internet Explorer as a container (Ole style) and interacting with Dynamic HTML, script and form tags and events. I have used the MSADO.ocx to learn ADO and rewritten previously written Delphi code for ADO in C#. The Type Library import tool tlbimp.exe permits using most of the .dlls and .exes which contain type libraries with C#.<span style= "mso-spacerun: yes">  </span> The ildasm.exe tool can be used to dump the object tree which is very similar to a type library. Similarly, I have worked in C# with EXCEL and ACCESS by importing their Type Libraries. Nevertheless I have developed using various development suites such as Delphi, Visual Basic, ADA and Oracle Forms and Reports and JBuilder. Years ago I studied Charles Petzold’s book on Windows programming and translated the code from C to Delphi. I also now have a copy of his book Programming Windows with C# and have compiled and ran much of the code from that book using C#. This book closely parallels his previous book and deals with System.Windows.Forms and Controls. The book now includes coding for the newer controls such as TreeView and ListView controls. This code runs as Windows applications instead of through a browser. I also have a copy of C# in a Nutshell. From this I have learned about System.Reflection which permits on the fly perusal of an object’s methods, properties and events. This code ties in with Brockschmidt’s Ole and Automation. I also have a copy of Beginning ASP.NET with C# from which I have learned how to use ASP.NET instead of Active Server Pages. From this I have become familiar with System.Data.OleDb and the OleDbConnection, OleDbCommand, DataSet, DataTable, DataView, OleDbDataAdapter, OleDataReader classes and interaction with a DataGrid. While working with CACI  I followed Microsoft’s migration through ODBC, OLEDB and ADO and am now learning ADO.NET.</font> <p class="MsoNormal" style= "MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in"><font face= "Times New Roman" size="3">I have also become familiar with ADOX for creating Microsoft Office Professional Access databases with indexes, primary and foreign keys, users and groups and stored procedures. I have spent considerable time with Type Libraries from an interest in Language Independence and Object Oriented Programming and have followed Microsoft’s migration through ActiveX Controls to OCXs. I have been able to work with Microsoft Office Access databases using C# code. I have downloaded Microsoft’s xmlsdk and began to work with it as an OCX.
