I'm a certified UEB braillist making more books accessible to blind and visually impaired readers, because everyone deserves to have access to books. Your support makes it possible to transcribe more books! Every little bit helps. Every year about 1.7 million books are published, and few are made available in braille. It's been shown that literacy for the blind and visually impaired is one of the most important factors in success. 75% of people who are illiterate depend on government assistance. About 45 million people are blind or visually impaired, most in developed countries, with 70% of blind people being unemployed, while 85% of adults who read braille are employed. But how can people read braille if so little is available? And, of what is available, many are governemnt documents or textbooks - certainly not what the average person reads in their spare time! With your help, we'll be able to greatly expand what is available. These BRF files can be sent to anyone and embossed anywhere that has an embosser, making books available across the nation. The current goal is to have twenty new books by the end of 2022, and hundreds of new books available in the coming years. Please consider joining other supporters if you are able.
