September 2002 - present Wrote a newsletter form and emailling system in php. Wrote part of the server side (JSP) and part of the javascript of prismaticprinting.com Wrote the complete software for family-stand.com (six months project). This includes: - Design and implement the mysql database structure. - Java servlets and classes for the generation of static html pages. These pages include javascript code, resized images and html generated from dynamic MySQL data. The static html are generated along specific client's requirement for search engines placement. - Stand alone desktop application written in java-swing for admin maintenance. - Complete suppliers Portal for upload and change of shops and items written in Java and JSP. - Used JSP for the shopping cart. Administered linux Red Hat server with apache, tomcat, mysql. Wrote in java-swing a standalone html editor that allows site maintenance for users. Created the database structure for a web survey for FOX (Amercan Idol). Developed the back end and front end in java, jsp and javascript for the AmericanIdolShoutBack link inside the American Idol website. This site was collecting data for Fox with dynamically generated pages based on the answers and preferences of the viewers. The back end was using apache-tomcat as a server and mysql as database. Wrote the java applets for sunrisemallonline.com. Revisited the java GUI of some old project. (transformed into swing) Translated in C++ a procedure running in VBA under excel. (transformed in dll all the slow routines and implemented antipiracy). 2001 - September 2002 I was working for Tara Consulting Group, an Internet company of financial management and advisers. Led a small team (Rational Rose, UML). Wrote in java the server engine that processes the stream of data generated by Comstock (Standard and Poor) and ‘push’ the stocks indexes (real-time) to the users on-line. I wrote the complete application in java swing that allows the user to manage the portfolio (using modern portfolio theory) and trade on line in real time. I wrote a standalone multithreaded server engine that forwards and checks the trade to a third party. I started and monitored the migration from NT-iPlanet to linux-tomcat on the server side. Wrote numerous applets, servlets and database queries (MS SQL). 1999 - 2001 I have worked for Volostudios.com, a company of web designers. Assembled and administrated a Linux server width MySQL database. Wrote in java a multi threaded secure server for all the needs of Volostudios, using the database. Wrote in Java the front end for the same needs (AWT and SWING). Wrote the complete software server side and client side, for 10minutesite.com. This software, 80% in Java a some programs in perl, allow anybody to create and have a site in 10 minutes. The final outcome are permanent html pages, and new images are created combining text and images. Easy maintenance of the site is included. In this software, as well as in many others, I have used encrypted communications between applets and servlets or CGI scripts. I wrote several application in javascript, mostly for checking forms on client side and cross platform pull down menus. Wrote an applet that allows you to book a specific seat in a theater with colored map of available seats. Several others applets have been written for specific applications. Wrote complete shopping card in perl. Wrote several back end form processing in perl. 1994 - 1999 I moved to the U.S.A. in 1994, but I continued to oversee the maintenance of the software that I sold in Italy. (Condominiums administration, Hotels, and Jewels production). Specifically, I have had to train more programmers to take over on the installations already active, and oversee the conversion of part of the software to different operating systems. (A lot of the software had been developed under THEOS OS and was now being requested to run in Windows). In this perspective, after using Visual Basic, I start to study Java and introduce this language as a cross platform solution. I started also to be interested in Linux, having already experience in Unix. In this period I also did the analysis for a winery (Renaissance), using Oracle data base. 1988 - 1994 Created "Soluzioni di Bruno Angelin". Continued business consulting, engineering hardware and software. I organized a small team to install and update the software for Condominiums, Hotels and Jewelers. I completely rewrote the Condominiums package, introducing new features and more user friendly interface. I also created a software tool that allows you to generate the software and the database simply by updating a graphical mask. With the aim to move to the U.S.A. for personal reasons, I sold my software and closed the company in January 1994. 1984 - 1988 I became president of the board of E.D.S., with 24% ownership in E.D.S. I now had 15 employees and annual earnings of $4 million in hardware and software sales. Not in agreement with some partners, and more interested only in software development, I sold my partnership in E.D.S. in 1988, retaining the right to part of the software that I had produced. 1983 -1980 I started the analysis and the creation of software for jewelry. This software included all the aspects of jewelry production and sales. All the scales were connected to the server, every operation was monitored, all the statistics put in place. For the first time in the world, a bar code for jewels was used. It took 3 years to complete the project. With a small team of programmers, the software for condominiums and hotel was rewritten and improved. 1980 Started to use OASIS and later THEOS and UNIX operating systems, in order to deploy multi-user applications. Started to analyze and write the first release of the software for hotels. 1979 Analyzed and wrote a program for condominiums administration, creating and directing a team of three programmers. This was and is the best selling application of its kind in Italy, with more than 2000 users. In that application I have invented a new system for registering data with the Commodore computer. I became manager of software production at E.D.S. and 15% owner. 1978 Entered the nascent world of personal computers. Analyzed and wrote programs for various application for the Commodore computer. E.D.S.. the Milan distributor of Commodore, offered me a 5% ownership in return for my collaboration. 1977 Worked as a free-lance computer programmer. Wrote programs for Datapoint calculators in databus and for IBM in Cobol. 1976 - 1977 Obligatory military service. 1970 -1975 Attended the medical school at the Universita' degli studi di Milano, with science and bioengineering orientation. 1970 Graduated from the A. Einstein school in Milan, studying a science curriculum.
