Episodes by Helena Jonsdottir is a powerful performance that binds together different art forms: dancing, acting, visual arts, cinema and music. Episodes or TÍMAR (icelandic) was composed specifically for the fortieth anniversary of Iceland Dance Company (http://www.id.is/english) and was premiered in october 2013 in Reykjavík City Theater. Episodes is as global as it is Icelandic. It is a homage to every dancer in the world, as well as the world in every dancer. It portrays dancers who at all times wait in the shadow to be called on stage for their moment to shine. Moments of anticipation and triumph, doubts and success are woven together in beautiful stories, and brought to life in a new context. Episodes by Helena Jonsdottir was performed by four belgian-based dancers in Dancing Poznan 2014. Icelandic Dance company will perform Episodes in IceHot in Oslo december 2014. About the choreographer: Helena Jonsdottir studied dance at the National Theatre Ballet School of Iceland and took additional classes at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York. She is one of Iceland ́s leading contemporary choreographers, both for television and stage. Her creations have been performed all over the world, from Guangdong in China to Alaska in North America as well as Germany, France, Scandinavia and England. She has also created a number of dance films, including Breaking Voices (2002) and Zimmer, which won the IV. Videotanzpreis award 2003/2004 of SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne, Germany. Helena won first prize at the Cinessone Film Festival in Paris 2006 and has gained international recognition for her work in Scandinavia, UK and USA.
