Factions are an alternative rock band from Dublin. They played Electric Picnic, Knockanstockan and the Dan Hegarty 2FM sessions so far this year. The band formed in late 2010 in Dublin. Older songs that were owned by individual members were set aside, another style had formed - new songs, and that was how the current four track E.P. ‘Looms’ was born. Looms was released in May 2012. “A Dublin act with a hankering for widescreen moody rock with electro and ambient swirls in the wash” - Jim Carroll, Irish Times The bands influences include A Perfect Circle, Patti Smith, Tool and Bat for Lashes. “Looms” is available on ITunes, Bandcamp and Amazon MP3 and is out now

I am Jason, one of the Co-Creators of Factions: Battlegrounds. My best friend and I are pursuing our dream of developing a fantasy game that emphasizes culture and diversity. The game is based on sketches we did as kids in 5th grade, and has grown into a passion. Our goal with Factions: Battlegrounds is to open to gate to tabletop gaming through representation within our team and within our game.

Factions write songs in a trance. It’s an ambient mix of guitar riffs, beats and vocals that form an immediate song. It’s a simple process that creates the foundation of each song and it works. They came together as a band in late 2010 in Dublin. Older songs that were owned by individual members were set aside, another style had formed - new songs and that was how the current four track E.P. ‘Looms’ was born. The songs contain messages both personal and public. The first track from the E.P. ‘Saturn’, for instance, is a homage to the new wave of emigrants who have left the debt-ridden country over the past few years. Saturn ate his children, Ireland has done the same. It’s no wonder that Jim Carroll of the Irish Times has said of the band: “A Dublin act with a hankering for widescreen moody rock with electro and ambient swirls in the wash” The bands influences include A Perfect Circle, Patti Smith, Tool and Bat for Lashes but there isn’t really any comparison with anyone out there. The band is currently working on their album and are set to start gigging in early July 2012. With a growing international fanbase - Factions aren’t solely concentrating on the Irish music scene. “Looms” is available on ITunes, Bandcamp and Amazon MP3 has been available from the 16th of May 2012
