BIO: You don’t have to go far in Nashville to run into band trying to make it big. Nearly every bar in Music City is full of pretenders who think wearing the right boots paired with a carefully distressed western shirt will lead them to fame. Nashville’s FIRES is a different sort of band, concerned more with making it rock than making it big. Made up of brothers Danny and Ryan Nicoletto with Nathan Thomas; these Chicago transplants have crafted a punishing rock debut with the ANGELS IN THE DARK EP. For principal songwriter and lead singer Danny Nicoletto, years on the road as a guitar tech eventually led to the formation of FIRES - a creative outlet he desperately needed after spending 9 months of the year tuning guitars for other bands. Longtime friend and fellow troubadour Brian McSweeney (Matthew) was tapped to the produce the sessions which began in Chicago; where Ryan Nicoletto added drums and the powerful ferocity that has become FIRES’ trademark. The tapes eventually found their way to Nashville’s Sputnik Sound studio where they were completed under the watchful eye of engineer Joshua D. Niles; and then Minneapolis where Jeremy Tappero (Gratitude, The Stereo, Attention) handled the mix. Live you will find the band ripping through songs from the EP, in addition to choice covers like Smashing Pumpkins ‘Adore’, at a frenetic pace. It is advisable to visit the bar before the band takes the stage, because once they do there will be no breaks or playful interludes. FIRES ascribes to a take no prisoners ethos when playing clubs where they wring every last ounce of energy out of the room. In the last few months FIRES has warmed up crowds for Blackpool Lights, House of Heroes and Class of 98 among others. The band will embark on brief mid-west tour in August including an opening slot with Braid (Polyvinyl) at Chicago’s Metro. Fernando Cienfuegos is a multimedia producer, director and artist dedicated to provide media solutions for his clients. He won his first national competition award at the age of eight years old for his sand sculptures. He created his first multimedia installation at fourteen and after this, an atmospheric installation about Dadaism. Fernando holds a Masters degree in Audiovisual Production (Cum Laude) and a Baccalaureate in Communications with a specialty in Animation. While studying for his BA, his productions, "Mejicanos en el Espacio," a science fiction comedy, and "La Banda y la Pasión," a clay motion video, won national awards for best production, animation and best video. He has taught several courses at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, among them The image and the mass media and workshops in TV production. He has also worked on interactive projects, in asynchronous mode, in productions such as "Aztec Paradigm".
