Inventions are an alternative rock band based in Melbourne, Australia. Freshly formed in late 2013, they are completely independent and have decided to take on the industry on their own terms. Recorded with producer Dave Petrovic (Tonight Alive, Heroes For Hire, Punk Goes Pop), their debut EP is a strong 5 track pulling together hard rock tones and pop-punk energy into a powerful melodic bundle. From scattered hometowns spanning across Australia and the globe, the members of INVENTIONS have made Melbourne their home. Challenging the current pop-punk and heavy music paradigm, the five-piece pour out theatrical alt-punk tracks that are bursting with energy, emotion, and piano. With shared admiration for international acts like Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, and Tonight Alive, the band worked with producer Dave Petrovic (Tonight Alive, Northlane) on their 2014 self-titled debut EP. Key singles ‘Shadows’ and ‘Straight’ made their way onto community radio, both locally and internationally. On the side, lead singer and songwriter Jacob Leaney spends time producing and creating music for video games, and drummer Ryan Fallis travels the country as a live sound engineer. These projects have lent themselves to the everyday operation of a band-owned recording and rehearsal space named Inventions Studio in Footscray, where they spend time producing other acts. The past year alone has seen INVENTIONS support the likes of mewithoutYou (USA), Emery (USA), D At Sea, Masketta Fall, and even Violent Soho, as well as embarking on their own national tour. INVENTIONS are now focusing on a forthcoming single, national tour, and a debut full length record. New single‘I Said Goodbye’ was produced by the band, and features the 140 year old German Grand Piano that resides in Inventions Studio. The release will also see the band promoting awareness of youth mental illness - a cause very close to the quintet’s hearts.
