Hello

I'm a retired electronics engineer, graduated from U. of North Dakota 1969. Prior to getting my degree I spent eight and one half years active duty in the Air Force after which I worked as a computer tech. for RCA in Thule Greenland. After graduating I worked at Boeing, Pacific Northwest Bell from which I retired. During this period I also joined the Air National Guard and completed my 20 years there. At the present time my wife and I are building our dream home just 30 miles south of Mt. Adams. Because of our location we get a lot of snow in the winter and that is where my love of reading comes in and now I've found this webb site.

Dear 2022 SS... I hope your year is going well and you are staying safe. I'm pretty easy. I know my wish list is long and a little odd, at times. Don't stress too much, I really do play most games and I love to branch out. I just looked at my wishlist again and I see you need to go kinda far down to find reasonable, in print stuff. Most of the new hotness type games are off my radar, though. So you can feel pretty comfortable picking anything like that assuming I haven't rated it poorly. I have a pretty regular monthly game night that met until the pandemic struck. We're looking forward to getting it started again. I really hope to start it Dec 2022... My daughter is now off at college, so we play much less frequently at home, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what you got for me. ------------ My SS in 2015 wanted to know about my gaming habits. I decided to keep this here anyway as it seems like good profile info. I am holding at least one game night per month. Usually one with a focus on party games (Codenames, Two Rooms and a Boom, Dixit, Portrayal, etc) and often one with more strategic games (Ticket to Ride, Dominion, Acquire, Ra). I play deeper games when I can (Agricola, and other long games). In addition, I play a lot with my son (10), mostly Battlelore and Mice and Mystics lately. He's starting to explore some of the classics, too. (Battleship and the like.) I also play with my daughter (15) when she doesn't have too much homework. We've been playing a lot of Hanabi. As for my wife we don't play a lot, unfortunately. She loves Betrayal at House on the Hill and she'll play with us when we play Fluxx, Codenames, Ticket to Ride, or Settlers. I play Pandemic (lately Pandemic Legacy season 2) almost every day at lunch. We don't branch out much there. We set up Pandemic Legacy to be replayable after our 4th copy. We've played though many, many times. We keep amping up the difficulty. 6 epidemics, limited upgrades, random scar each game. I LOVE abstracts, but mostly I find people onesie, twosie to play with as the person I used to play with multiple times per week left town. I'm still hunting for a replacement for him, but so far, no luck. I hope to find someone of comparable skill and enthusiasm for abstracts so I can get back into playing them more often. So pretty much, I'm a polygamer. I play anything. --- I'll play almost any game. I love new. That doesn't just mean new games, it also means new strategies to old games. My favorite genre of games is Abstract Strategy, but it's hard to find opponents who love them as much as I do.
