https://i.ibb.co/GQLJLpx/image-41.png VIRGINIA!!! tendonitis and osu: My wrist issues developed early-mid 2023 in the form of a painful warm sensation in my middle finger after only a hour or so of playing osu. I wrote it off as typical overuse/strain. I took many breaks from osu after that. Taking weeks and months off from lack of interest, but everytime i would play the same sensation would return. March 2024, I was playing osu when the same burning sensation arose. I continued to play through it as an act of frustration with my hand and body. I soon felt a sharp tingly sensation that shot from the middle of my wrist and tendons all the way up to my shoulder. It wasnt painful but i knew it was abnormal. The next day I visited an urgent care clinic near me and told them my experience. They wrote it off as overuse and told me to take a break. I took that break but upon returning the pain was worse than ever. I scheduled an appointment with my primary physician and immediately upon me describing my symptoms they went in depth about the median nerve and how I have tendonitis. He told me to take a longer break and anti inflammatories but even through that longer break my wrist is no longer the same. It felt week on the ulnar side, and there was persistent cracking with movement of the wrist. Within the following months i came to terms with not being able to play again and decided to prioritize the longevity of my hand and wrist. I started to look into my technique and what caused the issues. I realized that i had been playing with my left hand slightly tilted to the left. Every thing else about my technique was about as textbook as it goes. Something as simple as that with prolonged strain and usage can cause you to end up in the same boat as me. Ever since I moved my keyboard position and fixed my posture along with chair height, my wrist has gotten a lot better. If you're also struggling with RSI, please don't play through it, Find stretches that relieve the pain best for you and seek medical help. Everyone is different, but most can save their hands from permanent nerve damage by simply resting and stretching. As for my hand, as of lately it is doing much better. No pain whatsoever and clicking has decreased a lot ever since i started massaging the tissue on the ulnar side, However i don't think i will ever be active in osu again. My wrist simply is not the same even though it is pain free it feels as if theres permanent damage to the mobility of my wrist.
