Julie Flygare, JD is the founder of Project Sleep, leading narcolepsy spokesperson and award-winning author diagnosed with narcolepsy with cataplexy in 2007. She received her B.A. from Brown University in 2005 and her J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2009. In 2012, Julie published “Wide Awake and Dreaming: A Memoir of Narcolepsy,” which won First Prize in the San Francisco Book Festival Biography/Autobiography Contest 2013. In 2012 – 2013, she led the narcolepsy community’s efforts in the FDA’s innovative Patient-Focused Drug Development Initiative. Julie currently serves on NIH’s Sleep Disorder Research Advisory Board and lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that features excessive daytime sleepiness.In a tycpial sleep stages. This is when REM sleep occurs. It takes around 60–90 minutes to reach the stage of REM cycle, a person will first enter the early stage of sleep, then the deeper sleep sleep.
