From the gully row house lined blocks of Philadelphia to the country dirt roads of Atlanta, Georgia; a hip-hop artist among hundreds of frauds says he is the epitome of real. He was born Isa, which is Arabic for Jesus, but when he began penning the tales of his life and the raw stories of those around him, he could only think of one thing to call himself. From a young age, Nonfiction also known as NF was exposed to the harsh realities of life on the streets of Philadelphia. “I was no stranger to drive-by shootings and corner block drug dealers,” he said. According to him, these were regular observances on Clapier Street where he grew up. However he chose a “be in it, but not of it” point of view and began to translate his experiences into rhymes. His initial spark of lyricism began when his parents decided to move their family to Atlanta, GA in an attempt to provide a better living environment for him and his siblings. There, he resided in Martel Holmes Housing Projects, home of Goodie Mob and Outcast group members, where many of his early raps were written. Nonfiction went on to perform in many venues and local music competitions in Atlanta. He fondly recalls when he was afforded the opportunity to audition for Lil Jon at what was then the office of a budding So-So Def Records. He would reunite with his family and form a squad of talented individuals entitled “The Government.” With the help of LA LA Records founded by Philadelphia’s own William Hart of the Delfonics, he plunged right into the Philly rap scene like he never left, bringing with him a unique twist of southern style from his 10 year stay in ATL. Nonfiction has appeared on several We Run The Streets Mixtapes along with Meek Mill, Young Chris, Rick Ross, TI and various other established artists. He’s been a feature 1st place winning performer several times on Urban Xpressions Television Show performing in front of 4 million viewers. He headlined with Styles P and opened for Beanie Sigel, Gillie DaKid, Maybach Music Group’s Gunplay, Peedi Crack, and many more...Recently nominated in top 10 artists of the year in NY Elegant Hoodness showcase and was crowned number 2 artist of the year affording the opportunity to be featured in Six-Twelve Magazine, HHH Magazine and Hip Hop Stardom Magazine in NY distributed worldwide and online! All of this was achieved with no major label backing showing his hard work, dedication, and rapidly growing fan base. He is most known for his catchy hooks, club bangers and real life stories. “I think I bring the type of stories Biggie used to tell; the kind when you hear it, you can visualize the whole thing,” he said. “When you listen to my music, you can relate to it.” Needless to say he’s certainly a prospect to be on the lookout for in the near future.
