Repression began when Germain Vanks and a long time high school friend on drums got together one afternoon on May 4th, 1996. Their cover rehearsal was just the beginning of a journey that hasn't stopped since that day. Germain,14 years old at the time, stayed on the creative front line while the postings on bass and lead guitars were filled always only on a temporary basis with players who kept coming and going. Throughout their time together, they have played in various venues throughout New York including even South America. Germain used his guitar as an outlet to create amazing rhythms to accompany his lyrics. Along with arduous hours in studio and relentless live show sets...their style became the band known as REPRESSION. In 2006, circumstances out of his own control kept Germain's long time highschool friend at the drums post from continuing with the band project, and therefore Germain was left to carry on. Out of the auditions ultimately came Matt and Kyle. The new band members caught on quickly and they took the original scores and created a sound they can call their own. After a successful run in the circuit since 2006 where they earned a loyal base in New York, The band has now worked on intensive rehearsal sessions matching up the tracks for their first national album set for recording July 2012 in los angeles, california including 2 brand new highly anticipated songs previously unreleased. They continue strong, ALIVE, uncompromised and committed to what the have always done best since Day 1... create great and relevant music that has proven to transpire through thousands of friends/fans who have join their forces over the years. When many of our kind has come and gone, we remain Resilient and UNDYING... We still stand. We are REPRESSION....... Welcome.
