William G Morgan a director of physical education at a YMCA thought basketball was too intensive for him. With plans of inventing a mellower sport he grabbed a badminton net and the bladder from an old soccer ball and invented a game called "mintonette"(1885). renaming it to "volleyball" a year later. Founded in Tampa Florida by a group of former student athletes, Shootout League began with an idea to convert the three point shot into a competitive sport. Eliminating the use of a rack, two players form a team and square off in a three point shootout. One player is the shooter while the other gets the rebound and returns it ASAP. Each team switches out after the first team makes a shot, meaning the shooter becomes the rebounder. they will switch out after every made shot. Each made shot is one point. The two point shots are three circles positioned in an arch shape away from the top of the three point line providing participation in some fun long distance shooting. Access to the two point shot is only granted after a regular game shot is made during the switch out. If the player missed the long distance shot attempt he/she has to return to the normal game distance. To return to any two point circle the player must make at least one regular game shot again. After analyzing this new fun sport and the possibilities. Shootout league begun to identify some key objectives to make this sport popular and successful. A copyright was secured for the game rules in 2017. Currently we are developing the Shootout League mobile game App. Eventually Shootout League mobile games will consist of easier to play but fun versions of sports like football, soccer, baseball, volleyball. All modified for mobile enjoyment without the hassle of being in a full on complicated game. Additionally SL (Shootout League) will hold tournaments beginning January 2019. The tournaments will get the local community more familiar with this already popular game and bring the appropriate sponsorship opportunities that could propel this game to it's full potential!
