Not just translate but understand highly technical concepts. * While I´m a high output translator I enjoy the complex technical or legal translation. It is important to me to write it just right. For me precise cultural understanding is important to write what was intended. I´m a translator, who will be your best choice if you like and need a good, sound translation with excellent word choices, which carefully maintains the original meaning of the text. We will enjoy working with each other if quality is second to price, however not priceless. I like the flow of words, I like when they are convincing, moving or cutting just right. Words are meant to accomplish understandings, agreements or productions. * You may take confidence knowing that I´m a certifying board member of the State licensing board in Hesse, Germany for translators and foreign language correspondents. * If your source words are destined to alter the outcome of a business transaction, a contract negotiation or claims settlement, then my target words will help you to achieve that objective. The better your original text, the better my translation. I enjoy meaningful documents aimed precisely at a purpose. It is my pleasure to tranfer that meaning into my second culture and your target language, be that English or German. Professional editing is always included, provided your time plan allows for it–as editing is best the morning after. Specialization / Background I initially started translation service in 1972 and then while working for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Germany in 1976 I began to translate construction contracts and specifications from English to German and contractor proposals, claims and construction specifications from German to English. In 1979 became a US citizen and moved to the US, while continuing continued to work for the US Government in the US as well as in Germany. In 1986 wrote in English and translated into German the first environmental service contracts and hazardous waste disposal contracts for Defense Logistics Agency in Wiesbaden, Germany Later I continued as a Professor in Contracting and Logistics in the US, qualifying for the prestigious Certified Professional Contracts Manager and am a Fellow of the National Contract Management Association. I hold a DoD Acquisition Level III (the highest) certificate, am a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps and then was selected for the Defense Leadership and Management Program in 1997. As a Director of Procurement for the Federal Railroad Administration and later the Director of the Navy´s Information Technology Acquisition Center and Deputy Director of also the Navy´s Outsourcing Office I´ve specialized int the areas of IT, communications, railroad, construction, environment, and outsourcing in addition to procurement, legal text, contracts and logistics. Later I worked as the Program Manager Host Nation Liaison, NATO Admin Program where I translated Host Nation Agreements and wrote an amendment to the Defense Approprations Act, which was actually passed. While German is by definition my native language I have native language capabilities in English and not only think and speak with my children exclusively in English, I prefer it in my contractual writing, always writing the English first and then translating into German. With deep love for language, I´ve continuously honed my expressive skills in both languages translating to the satisfaction of my clients. My Forte •32 years of experience in translation covering a wide range of fields with overseas working experience in Singapore, Guam, United Kingdom, Spain, Greece and Italy. My home countries are the United States and Germany and I maintain homes in both. Good understanding of both languages and cultures. •The first 10 years of my career were mainly in the field of construction. Construction is a highly technical and multi-disciplinary field and the experience well prepared me for becoming a freelance translator afterwards. •Later work includes translation of contractual, environmental, outsourcing, law, logistics, finance (general), human resources, host nation agreements and NATO construction and logistics and policy documents. Daily output (in source words) 1) English to German: 3,500-4500 2) German to English: 3,000-5000.
