Soaked: ID Card If your heartbeat is synched to any kind of Electronica, Soaked will require no effort from you. Here you are in the familiar realm of perfect melodic Synth-Pop, but the band stands apart easily from the myriad of others. They make timeless music, and possess the sophistication associated with world class acts. These flawlessly produced songs are delivered in pure English, and curiously devoid of any hints that point to the origin of the band—Istanbul, Turkey would never be your first guess. Soaked is an Istanbul based band formed in 2003. At that time, front man and founder Balamir Nazlica composed the music, and used his own illustrations. His vision was to combine his lyrics with electronic tunes and striking visuals. Starting from 2009 the core band members as Hatice arici and Emrah Akar joined the endeavor and Soaked was ready to start its musical journey. 2010-2011: These years have been rather prolific years for Soaked. Their 5-song EP entitled Into the light, and a remix of their song “In-light” by DJ Tangun were released, accompanied by their first music video “In Light” directed by Emre Akay. The band held 40 live performances, including Rock’n Coke Festival 2011, closing act for Tribute to Rock Festival in Kathmandu – Nepal, Efes Pilsen One Love Festival 2010, Temps D’images Festival, and the Adidas FG Street Party, and played at venues such as Babylon, Ghetto, Roxy, Indigo, Dogzstar, Garaj Istanbul, Ankara IF Performance Hall, and Otto Santral as the opening act for Midnight Juggernauts. In the last quarter of 2010, Soaked launched a new series of concerts, and unveiled their second video “Gemlike” also directed by Emre Akay. A brand new remix of the tune by DJ Cervus was also released. Soaked topped off 2011 being chosen Reset Magazine’s Best Band of the Year. 2012: After a year of recording, Soaked finished their debut album called Aftermath and released it in December 2012 with Topkapi Music. With a great reception from the press Soaked appeared in all of the major newspapers and magazines including the International Herald Tribune. Soaked also within this year managed to shoot the video clip for their track Painless, directed by Emre Akay, with Turkey’s first ever crowd sourcing platform called Projemefon, making their video the first ever crowd sourced video clip in Turkey. Soaked continues to perform regularly in major venues locally such as IKSV Salon and is now making plans for a European tour. Soaked bills itself not only as a musical ensemble but also as a creative artistic platform, and they are determined to provide the quality performance and art that Turkish audiences crave. Soaked wants to produce works that encompass various artistic disciplines , integrating these into concerts, and work in tandem with domestic and international artists.
