I've worked in IT for over 45 years (since 1980) starting when I was doing research at university and got the role of Computer Manager in the Physics department. I've been an IT Manager for a large part of my career, but in recent years have done more software development (SQLserver, C#, etc) than IT administration. I've also been a Project Manager (Prince 2), a software development manager and now mostly support both users and developers of assorted in-house and 3rd-party web and mobile applications. Most of my professional work has been with Microsoft operating systems but I've kept up an interest in Linux throughout. At home, in addition to a couple of Windows laptops, I currently run a home server running Debian Linux with over 24Tb of disks mostly configured as a ZFS RAIDZ2 array as well as several Raspberry Pi boards which I started using for electronics, but now also use to run the 3D printers I got when I found I needed to create some custom boxes! I never got to print the boxes but have loads on other 3D prints! Married, with several cats, but no kids!

I really enjoy seeing different parts of the world. I've been to some of the tourist places and to some unusual areas also. We like peace and quiet on our holidays and cannot stand in-your-face entertainment. My favourite places remain as St. Ives in Cornwall and Bowness-on-Windermere.
