Started "proper" gaming with Risk when i was young, moving on to Apocalypse, Talisman, Rogue Trooper, Warlock of Firetop Mountain.. the good old days of Games Workshop. Then spent years and years playing RPG's, primarily D&D, Cthulhu, Alternity. Got into video games (Megadrive/Playstation) then discovered Magic the Gathering, Netrunner, Dragon Dice, Got into MMO's played Meridian 59, Everquest, WoW, Starwars galaxies, still DM'd a online D@D campaign using the klooge software, then (and i still dont remember why as i wasnt searching for board games) i discovered a vid by Scott Nickleson reviewing Settlers of Catan. I purchased it immediately, soon followed by Last Night on Earth...A while after i discovered BGG...and here we are... Like Ameritrash, Euro, Complex, Easy games equally, although my gaming group tends to lean toward Ameritrash high conflict Dude on the Map (DoaM) games or basically anything where you can screw each other is most appreciated. I have found that I really appreciate the following in board games: Mid weight, easy to remember rules, streamlined mechanisms, player interaction, 1-2 hours. I do love epic long games of Runewars, Warrior Knights, Forbidden Stars, Twilight Imperium but these are not always possible. I also have a soft spot for LCG's. I have and love the Original Netrunner, Lord of the Rings card game, Star Wars card game and Legend of the five rings card game. I love the replayability of these games and all 3 have the best art/graphic design in boardgaming. In all these games I DO NOT DECKBUILD. I purchase the booster packs and add the cards to the clans/factions..divide up and add neutral cards..boom..theres your decks for each faction/clan. Pick up and play. Myself and my gaming partner love to play this way. The randomness of the decks are part of the attraction (We love Wiz-War, Dicemasters, Arkham Horror...we embrace random). I love the gameplay and card interactions in these types of games and they make for deep, entertaining 2 player games with plenty of interaction. FFG's amazing presentation/art as always is top notch in these games. FFG are without doubt my fave game company. I own more of their games than any other publisher. Sad to see what has happened to them. Unfortunately, due to what Asmodee have done to FFG and their terrible customer service policy i will not be buying any more FFG products. I do not like digital implementations of board games. I also do not like board games with Apps. Keep gaming unplugged! Have just done my first Kickstarter..Rising Sun.. Am generally not a fan of Kickstarter, but Rising Sun looks right up my alley..we will see. Update: Rising Sun is awesome. That still will be my last Kickstarter. [b]Other Thoughts/Observations[/b] No, you cannot shuffle one card! [i]I am not a fan of BGG's new heavy handed moderation/censorship policy. I have in the past donated to this site but no more. [/i] Also..the new logo sucks..
