Hi! I'm thesis. I like manga and manhwa, especially drama, psychological, tragedy, horror, BL and GL. I also especially like 80-90s anime and manga. I'm always open to recommendations. __Rating System__ Anime and manga are rated off of personal enjoyment, objective quality and fulfillment of potential. __5__ - Excellent or personal favorite, __wholly recommended.__ "Understanding Comics" describes two types of comics: those that experiment with the art form, and those that aim to focus on story. As such, this tier contains manga and manhwa that prove comics are an art form with unlimited potential. Not all entries in this tier are so grand in scope, but all of them left a strong impact on me personally. This tier contains everything from thought-provoking commentary, masterful mysteries, and complex dramas to ensemble casts, BL/GL romances, comedy and horror and beyond. Basically, I'm excited to read and talk about them. __4__ - Very good, __recommended.__ Some of my favorites also fall into this tier. Anime and manga in this tier are quality entries that aren't as outstanding as those in 5 (by no fault of their own, usually) but lack a flaw egregious enough that it would push them down to 3. __3__ - Decent or mixed, __usually recommended.__ Can be an anime or manga that I like, or that I like parts of, but is bogged down by a sloppy ending, excessive/out of place fanservice or unpurposefully bad art, writing, or music. If a particularly good anime/manga's merits outweigh one of these flaws (usually pertaining to an inconsistent ending), it'll be in 4 or 5. Or it could be one that's just fine, but not outstanding/forgettable. __2__ - Disappointing or boring, __usually not recommended.__ Anime and manga in this tier suffer from more or amplified symptoms of poor writing compared to those in 3. Can also be an anime or manga that is, for the most part, terrible, but has a particular outstanding quality. Or it could be one that's just fine, but completely boring. __1__ - Junk, __not recommended.__ The lowest of the low. Not worth your time. Anime and manga in this tier leave a bitter taste in my mouth, and I have a strong stomach. Stories dealing with sensitive subject matter often land 4's and 5's on my list, but the ones that end up here are utterly incompetent and tone deaf. A story can be good despite bad art. A story can be fun despite bad writing. Having both, these are neither. If I can laugh at something because of how bad it is, it's in a higher tier, since it at least provides some semblance of entertainment. "Anime was a mistake."
