Magic: The Gathering (colloquially "Magic", "MTG", or "Magic Cards") is a collectible card game created by mathematics professor Richard Garfield and introduced in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast. Magic is the first example of the modern collectible card game genre and still thrives today, with an estimated six million players in over seventy countries. Magic can be played by two or more players each using a deck of printed cards or a deck of virtual cards through the Internet-based Magic: The Gathering Online or third-party programs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Magic: The Gathering Online (MTGO) or Magic Online is a direct video game adaptation of Magic: The Gathering, utilizing the concept of a virtual economy in order to preserve the collectible aspect of the card game. It is played through an Internet service operated by Wizards of the Coast, which went "live" in June 2002. Users can play the game or trade cards with other users. It is only officially available for the Microsoft Windows operating system. As of February 2007, Magic Online has over 300,000 registered accounts; however this does not represent the true number of players, since people are allowed to register multiple accounts. At different times during the day and night, Magic Online hosts on average 2,000-4,000 simultaneously logged in accounts. ## BIO Other than the usual freelancing I have worked on two huge projects with well established companies. * Summer 2007 - Worked on the T-Mobile mobile voucher payments system. The idea was to have a POS device in local stores which uses GPRS to send data to our main server which was connected with the central T-Mobile Merlin server which handled the pre-paid transactions. The project was a huge success and was finished in a little less than a month. * Summer 2008 - [Hermes Softlab][1] (Member of Comtrade Group), Ljubljana, Slovenija. I worked in the Java ME development team as the lead engineer. The project was a casino gaming platform which had a local server written in C# which could be accessed using a geosynchronous satellite connection by it's multiple clients. There were three clients, a mobile game in Java ME(my teams responsibility) a browser based game in Macromedia Flash and the usual slot machine interface. The game was a huge success and the mobile and browser clients were released in almost two weeks, with the slot machines released after additional two weeks. ## Area of Expertise My main area of expertise is the Java Ecosystem, consisting of all **Java** platforms (Java SE, Java ME and Java EE) and various web and desktop frameworks used by these platforms, such as: * Spring and Spring MVC * Struts * Wicket * Google Web Toolkit * Hibernate ORM * Freemarker and Sitemesh Templating * Acegi Spring Security * Swing * NetBeans RCP * etc... Another area of expertise would be Web Services and the Service Oriented Architecture with the cloud computing paradigm. Other than being able to program web services and SOA concepts, I have done an extensive work on optimizing binary transfer using WS and securing web services. Furthermore, I have done extensive research and practical work in the area of automatically testing web services, which uses a mathematical model of computation to prove that all the test cases can be derived from a simple WS specification. Also, I am not alienated from other popular technologies. I monitor the web applications market and try to keep up with the recent trends which of course means AJAX and Rich Internet Application Frameworks like JavaFX. Other than my programming skills, I have a great deal of knowledge in Object Oriented Analysis and Design and Design Patterns, with extra knowledge in Software Engineering and Code and Team Management.
