Mission To Bring Order To The Music Industry

Dj Tantien (Aka: UndergroundMediaLabz) love affair with music started as always at a young age, and has grown steadily to become an integral part of his life today. His first taste of dance music ( Trade @ Zone 2, CT ) led him from the main dance floor to the basement where he discovered the warmth and sheer “get down dirty” of deep house and funk. He has subsequently never looked back. Learning to DJ on shaky Vestax belt driven turntables he quickly mastered mixing and immediately started developing a style of long smooth mixes with an unusual mix of elements, always looking for that seamless track fusion of styles. With strong elements of Jazz, funk and driving baselines Shane’s style over the years has delved into electro, trance, disco, tribal, lounge and more recently on the UK scene, Minimal. His career to date has taken him from residencies and venues at Eclipse (Camps Bay), Fuse (Cape town), Psychosis (Cape Town) overseas to the “Bar” (New Haven, USA) to Eclipse, Volsteadt, Dune (London). Private parties have been his specialty over the years with some memorable parties being done at the Coffee Lounge, Jet Lounge, Café Dharma, Bakhoven - New Years and a host of private residence both in Cape Town & surrounds and during his three year stint in London & Brighton (UK). This has led to Dj Tantien comfortably playing 5 hour set’s on a regular basis. Dj Tantien loves the lost art of the warm-up Dj and the ability to take the crowd from "hello" and smoothly introduce them to the thumping peak sound of the evening. This passion for dance music in almost all of its forms has led to the birth of his own production company “UndergroundMediaLabz” that is focused on both bringing new music to fruition and helping existing electronic music producers with an “ambient/ lounge” music platform to showcase and commercialize their work. The culmination of Dj Tantien’s influences now deliver a clean, smooth sophisticated sound with strong flavors of jazz, deep driving base lines, tribal percussive elements and soaring vocals all packaged in a polished eclectic intimate sound.
